Cortex Innovation District

The Cortex Innovation Community is a 200-acre technology and innovation hub integrated into St. Louis’ historic Central West End and Forest Park Southeast neighborhoods. The district is surrounded by nationally ranked universities, research institutions and medical centers, as well as abundant cultural and recreational assets.

The Cortex development follows the firm's Chroma project in the Grove, a quarter-mile south at the prominent corner of Sarah Street and Manchester Avenue. The Grove is a quickly rising gem known as St. Louis’ most creative business district, featuring everything from fine dining and casual restaurants to tattoo parlors, architecture firms, nightlife, breweries and eclectic shops.

Along the Central Corridor are three MetroLink stops uniting Grand Center, Cortex and the Central West End. Nowhere else in the region matches the Central Corridor’s connectivity, diversity and growth across all asset classes.

  • $8 billion in development along St. Louis' Central Corridor

  • Over 45,000 jobs and 20,000 students in Midtown

  • Over 200 companies in Cortex, including Microsoft, Square, Uber, Pandora, Boeing, Biogenerator, Centene, and Ikea

  • A mix of luxuries and conveniences within walking or biking distance

Neighborhood

Together, the Cortex and Chroma projects provide over 500 apartments and over 22,000 square feet of restaurants, bars, and shops that cater to the young professional and technology workforce looking to call the rapidly growing Cortex district “home.” Dynamic and amenitized housing is essential to fostering a 24/7 live/work/play environment, and in particular, to support long-term retail and restaurant activity, which in turn grows and sustains office environments.
